Alliance College-Ready Schools: Breaking Barriers, Building Futures

Founded in 2004 by educators and civil-rights and community leaders, Alliance College-Ready Public Schools is a nonprofit charter-school network in Los Angeles that serves nearly 13,000 students largely from historically underserved, immigrant, Latinx, and Black communities. Their mission is to give all children—regardless of background—access to rigorous, college-preparatory education.

Alliance needed a piece that went beyond statistics—something that demonstrated, through real voices, why their model works and why community investment truly matters.

To meet that need, we built the video around a multi-layered narrative. We began with the voices of leaders and educators who frame Alliance’s mission to “bulldoze ceilings” and defy expectations for what students from underserved communities can achieve. From there, we introduced current students and alumni whose lived experiences reveal the impact of that mission—young people discovering confidence, building meaningful relationships with teachers, and realizing that circumstances or immigration status do not define their trajectory. Finally, we wove in donors and supporters who validate what they’ve witnessed firsthand: students thriving in environments where they are known, supported, and encouraged to dream bigger.

By structuring the video around these interconnected perspectives, we created a compelling, emotionally grounded argument that investing in Alliance is investing in a stronger, more equitable future for Los Angeles.
